If you are a productive member of society today, then chances are you have specific goals or milestones that you are trying to reach. Some of us crush our goals and others fail miserably time and time again.
LOOKING FOR ANSWERS
I used to be one of those people that continued to fall short, mainly when it came to achieving my fitness and lifestyle goals. I would try my best, but always seemed to fail. Couldn’t lose the weight that I told my self I needed to lose, couldn’t stay consistent with my workouts and more importantly couldn’t keep my diet in check.
I kept asking myself why? What was I doing wrong? Why do I see so many people with poor genetics and seemingly less natural athletic ability than I had smashing their fitness goals? I started doing research and asking the ones I saw crushing it everyday what they were doing differently. What I discovered might surprise you.
An older gentleman from my local gym recommended I read the book “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. I left the gym that day and headed to the book store to grab it. Best decision of my life. I fully expected to read about some crazy, never heard of before approach to success and happiness. What I learned about was "The Law of Attraction".
Simply put, the Law of Attraction is the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on. It is believed that regardless of age, nationality or religious belief, we are all susceptible to the laws which govern the Universe, including the Law of Attraction. It is the Law of Attraction which uses the power of the mind to translate whatever is in our thoughts and materialize them into reality.
In basic terms, all thoughts turn into things eventually. If you focus on negative doom and gloom you will remain under that cloud. If you focus on positive thoughts and have goals that you aim to achieve you will find a way to achieve them with massive action.
This is why the universe is such an infinitely beautiful place. The Law of Attraction dictates that whatever can be imagined and held in the mind’s eye is achievable if you take action on a plan to get to where you want to be.
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
Let that sink for a second. To achieve your goals and be successful all you truly have to do is believe in yourself. I was 280 pounds when I first read “The Secret”. A life long “fat kid” with mounting chronic illnesses. I knew I needed a drastic change and decided to do something I hadn’t done in a long time... believe in myself.
I got a plan together and set my weight loss goal at 50 lbs the first year. Believing in yourself is the first part, the second is taking the proper actions to attract the knowledge or things required to accomplish your goal. I signed up at a new gym, started studying to become a personal trainer and posted about my new journey on social media. Those actions accompanied by my new found belief that I could do anything I set my mind to were the perfect storm.
At the end of my first year I was 75 pounds down and on my way to doing my first bodybuilding show. By the end of the second year I had lost a total of 95lbs. Not only had I crushed my weight loss goal, I completely changed the direction of my life mentally, physically and professionally.
My transformation inspired others around me and it wasn’t long before I was approached with Fitness modeling opportunities, small sponsorships and the opportunity to help start a Corporate Health & Wellness company, True Blue Health & Wellness. (www.truebluehw.com)
THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS
Fast forward 2 years and you will see nothing but progress in every aspect of my life. I’m not saying there haven’t been bumps in the road or hurdles to jump from time to time, I’m just telling you that you have the ability to overcome damn near anything that’s thrown your way.
It’s kind of funny to me that the guy who’s nickname was “Fat boy” is now a fitness model, competitive bodybuilder and the Co-Founder and Chief Fitness Officer of a Health & Wellness company that specializes in cutting edge genetic testing. It’s actually surreal at times and it’s all because I learned to accept this simple fact..thoughts become things! If you can believe it, you can achieve it!
